Squirrel Hill movie theater closes

Today is a sad day in Squirrel Hill as it was announced that the Squirrel Hill Theater that has been a neighborhood landmark for nearly 75 years will be closing. The theatre has been facing hard economic times and could not compete with the competition of newer theaters. There is some hope that the theatre could continue to serve for specialized films, and the owner is exploring other possible solutions for using its other screens.
The Post-Gazette did a great article on the situation, and expect an ad in tomorrows paper thanking all those who have supported the theater.
