It seems when you want to succeed you always model it off the ones that are.
That seems to be the case for the Florida Panthers who just yesterday (playing against us was the irony) revealed their new third jersey that looks awfully familiar to Pittsburgh fans. How familiar? Well it’s the opposite of the powder blues, with dark blue replacing the power blue.
Now I don’t want to call this a complete copy on the Panthers part. So I dug around the net and read some info that Reebok Edge is trying to keep things simple and cookie cutter for the league. That does explain why allot of the teams have the same trimming and now the circle logos … but why the same colors Panthers?
Oh well, the good thing is we won. Which is also to say if Florida wanted to model after some champions such as us, they should have known that the Pens have more loses with the powder blues then wins.
Here is what Keith Leach, Reebok’s dir. Of Merchandising had to say
“The third jersey is supposed to be different. We evaluated and did an exploration with the club of their concepts and objectives. We wanted to create an identity unique to the Panthers.”
