Finally, a Revitalization of Duquesne Brewery

Surfing around the internet I came across this striking modeling of a rendering for Duquesne Brewery building. For a while now I have been fascinated with Duke brewery, the company, and history. After the brewery closed in the 1970s it sat vacant for a few years. Many developers had ideas for uses of the site but it would eventually be purchased by the Brew House Association in the 1980s; who currently own the main brewery building today.

Since being bought by the Brew House Association the building has gone through small interior changes but nothing extensive has been done to the exterior. In fact more recently the Brew House was issued to evacuate because of unsuitable living/working conditions.

From lab 8’s website they posted
“…the main design ideas in the master plan are establishing a mixed-use program for the building including artists residences, commercial space, art gallery and retail/eating facility allowing the Association to use the income from these tenants to help support their programs and activities.”

Hopefully these renderings go into action and Duquesne brewery gets a wonderful revival. It is always fantastic to see old buildings being revived.
